First Day Success!

The comment I heard the most from the children today was "why do we have to go home already?".  I guess that's a good sign.  The next class day will be the full 3 hours.

Group Meeting:  The children danced to "If You're a Kid".  I introduced them to the message board.  The message board is where we learn what will be happening in the classroom for the day.  I explained the school rules using the pocket chart.

Story:  The story for today was Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin.  Pete loves his new white shoes.  He steps in strawberries and his shoes become red.  Does Pete cry?  Goodness no!  He keeps walking and singing his song.  Pete keeps going because it's all good!

The children are bringing home folders with their work for tomorrow.  I will be posting the directions for those things sent home in this blog.

In the folder:

September calendar and newsletter

Letter with explanation of the At Home Learning

Car Card for visor to help with dismissal

Book:  Your child selected a book from the book basket.  Return it in the Ziplock bag on the next class day.

Book Look card: Keep this card handy for read alouds that you do at home

Pete the Cat paper:  Re-read the story of Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes.  Here is a link to watch it on YouTube.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj_z6zGQVyM  After the story, read the directions to your child and help him/her color the item and shoes.

Here's some pictures of Monday and Tuesday's class.  At play time, I told the children that they could take a "mask break" if they were getting hot.  Most chose to keep them on.   It will be interesting to see if that continues when school is a little longer.
